Cyprus, located in the Middle East, is officially known as the Republic of Cyprus. It is a member of the European Union and adopted the euro as its currency in January 2008. The economy of Cyprus is thriving and has expanded. The services sector dominates Cyprus's economy. Tourism stands as the key service industry but it is highly dependant on the economic and political conditions of other European countries. Industries of Cyprus include tourism, metal products, food and beverage processing, ship repair and refurbishment, cement and gypsum production, textiles, light chemicals, wood, paper, stone and clay products. |
